Sulfone Polymer Center

Polysulfone and Polyphenylsulfone are amorphous thermoplastics that are inherently transparent. They are widely recognized for high heat resistance, good chemical resistance, strength and toughness, as well as thermal, oxidative, and hydrolytic stability.

Udel® Polysulfone (PSU)

sulfones polymer for Transparent and color applications Transparent (light yellow color)
high heat resistance with sulfones polymers Heat deflection temperature of 174°C (345°F)
chemical resistance with sulfones polymers Oxidative stability
thermal and hydrolytic stability with sulfone polymers Hydrolytic stability
good chemical resistance with sulfones polymers Good chemical resistance
high heat biocompatible polymer for sterilization Steam sterilizable up to 100 cycles

Polysulfone is often used when performance requirements exceed the capabilities of polycarbonate. This includes higher heat resistance, improved chemical resistance and steam sterilization.
Radel® R Polyphenylsulfone (PPSU)

Sulfone polymers for transparent and color applications Transparent (light amber color)
high heat resistance with sulfones polymers Heat deflection temperature of 204°C (399°F)
High impact resistance and toughness with sulfone polymers Outstanding toughness and impact strength
 Good chemical resistance
thermal and hydrolytic stability of sulfone polymers Excellent hydrolytic stability
high heat biocompatible polymer for sterilization Steam sterilizable over 1000 cycles

Polyphenylsulfone should be considered for more challenging applications, such as those needing even higher heat resistance, broader chemical resistance or exceptional impact strength and toughness.
